About Us

Tucked deep within the rural pines of Treutlen County lies a property with a past few dare to speak of.

Long before it became Scare Grounds of the South, the land was home to the Gillis Springs Industrial School, a secluded institution that housed students far from the outside world. In the early 1900s, tragedy struck when a devastating fire tore through the property. Official reports claimed that all occupants were safely evacuated… but local accounts have never fully aligned. Some insist that not everyone made it out—and that certain names were quietly left off the records.

Years later, the surviving structures were purchased and transformed into a private Southern estate. What was once a place of discipline and routine became a lavish home, hidden away from the public eye. But over time, the family who lived there began to withdraw. They shunned public life, cut ties with the outside world, and became reclusive—rarely seen, rarely heard. Then, without explanation, they were simply… gone.

No records. No departures. No trace of where they went—or if they ever truly left at all.

Some believe the family fled under unknown circumstances.

Others say they never left the property… and instead became part of it.

For a time, the grounds sat in silence.

Until it was quietly acquired once more—this time by a disgraced university professor, a man said to be obsessed with forces beyond human understanding. Removed from the academic world under questionable circumstances, he retreated to the property and began conducting experiments in isolation. His work centered on time itself—on the idea that the past is never truly gone, and the future is far closer than it should be.

What he uncovered—or unleashed—remains unknown.

Today, the grounds bear the marks of every era that came before. Echoes of the school. Whispers from the estate. Fragments of something far more unnatural bleeding through.

Visitors enter at their own risk.

Some leave with only memories.

Others… are not so fortunate.
